A family heirloom or a special place
This morning we talked about why particular places may be important to people and their families, and we also heard someone talking about a carpet that had been handed down through generations of her family.
For homework, I'd like you to write about a place that is important to you and your family, or maybe you have a family heirloom that you'd like to write about.
Tomorrow I will look at what you have written and we'll put them up on the blog.
Tomorrow's tube strike has been cancelled (according to TFL this afternoon), so it would great if everyone could come! If you don't come, then please put your posting on the blog tomorrow morning so we can read it, and then you can read what everyone else has written!

My gorgeous diamond ring
ReplyDeleteIt has a great sentimental value for my that have been in my family for four genarations.
My Great grandmother grew up around a lot of antique stuff and luxury jewelery.
One day I asked myself How did she get it? I discovered that she was a dark horse, I didn't know she had kept a secret for a long time. She got married to a rich old man, having engagemented she had fallen in love with another poor men anyway when she died, my grandmother inherited all her antique stuff and instead of putting it in the cupboard of her house in Peru, she kept it in the bathroom.
I've just got a diamond ring which she bequeathed to me. It is a piece of sentimental value that really took me back to my grandmother.
I must say that what stands out in my mind is the generation relative wearing the treasured ring.
It's lovely to be able to wear something special to remind you of a relative, isn't it?
DeleteAn heirloom is a word which is a little difficult to use or usually don't use as much in daily lives, at least while talking in English for me.However, as long as the context is given,I mean, after seeing a video clip about an old palazzo in Italy, I could use 'this word' most confidently.
ReplyDeleteThat was Yu Rim's comment!
