LOVING PAINTINGS

Some years ago, I started to love art and specially paintings. As everybody know London has wonderful museums and art galleries where you can see pieces of the universal art history.

These days I have visited National Gallery and Tate Modern, both with a really interesting collection. The first, wich is located in Trafalgar Square, is one of the most important museums in the city. I could stand in front of La Venus del espejo by Velázquez all the afternoon, actually you can do it every afternoon if you fancy because admission is free (as usual in London´s museums)

In Tate Modern, which its industrial building is amazing, you can find two temporary exhibitions: Paul Klee and Richard Hamilton. As well as all artwork, you can enjoy the beautiful view of  the city from the bar on the 7th floor. You can´t miss it!

  1. A few weeks ago I went to the Tate Modern and bought a ticket for the Paul Klee exhibition. I entered the exhibition and was really surprised to see a lot of different paintings. Klee used a variety of techniques which I wasn`t aware of before. I had pigeon-holed him as a ´normal` impressionist but after enjoying his works of art I had to open my mind. I can really recommend this exhibition. It`s amazing. Cheers Eve

  2. Thanks for the info about the Richard Hamilton and Paul Klee exhibitions, I've heard good things about both and I'm hoping to go and see them at some point. The walk along the Southbank is a favourite of mine, and walking over the wobbly bridge up to St Pauls makes me feel proud to be a Londoner :)

    1. You'll have the opportunity to visit the British Museum tomorrow! Maybe you'll change your mind about not being interested in art galleries or museums!

But i am definitely going to the National Gallery because i love painting and drawing pieces which i hardly perform maybe because of that why i admire the arty person.

  5. I'm sure it's awesome, but i've not been there, not yet. On wednesday i visited the british museum (which is actually just about two blocks from international house). It was amazing, and of course, it was huge. Actually, i didn´t watch all the exhibits, nevertheless, it was great. There are impressive collections from every part of the world. Also, i went to the the victoria & albert museum (obviously not the same day, it would be impossible, both have so many things to be seen). In spite of being smaller than the B. museum, it´s fantastic too. Some friends told me that the Tate is actually, well let's not say better, but there're new stuff there you know "modern" things. Personally, i don't think that just because of that it's better, but i understand that we are all more familiar with classic art, i mean we've always seen it at school, documentaries... i mean everywhere, it can get boring. Long comment i know, i just didn't want to write a whole post... see you!

    1. Hey Alessio ! I'm impressed that you've already visited the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum in your first week here! The Tate Modern is great too, your friends are right that it is completely different from the others. The building used to be a power station, so it has a totally unique atmosphere - the huge open spaces are perfect for some of the more unusual installations that they sometimes have there. When you go, check out the Richard Deacon exhibition (or at least look at the photos on the website) - his "sculptures" are really weird but very beautiful.
